Welcome to the FOLD Foundation's Volunteer Community!
The FOLD Foundation is home to Canada's first festival for diverse authors and storytellers -- The Festival of Literary Diversity (FOLD). The FOLD launched in 2016 in Brampton, Ontario -- one of Canada's most culturally diverse cities.
Since the FOLD's inception, the organization has grown to include an online writing webinar series and a year-round reading series, as well as an annual festival for young readers and writers in the fall -- FOLD Kids Bookfest.
The FOLD is looking for volunteers of all ages and experiences who love books and stories and who value a range of voices that inspire creativity and empathy.
If you are interested in volunteering at the Festival of Literary Diversity, FOLD Kids Bookfest, or one of our year round events, please fill out an application in the menu bar on the right.
Hospitality Assistants provide support to authors and volunteers -- keeping the hospitality and volunteer areas clean and preparing and serving meals as needed.
Session Hosts use a script to provide audience members with important information before and after sessions, introducing the moderator and assisting with the audience Q and A.
Production Assistants work behind the scenes to prepare and deliver FOLD sessions, connecting authors with the Rose Production team and provide support during audience Q and A's.
Merchandise Assistants sell festival merchandise on site, using the Square Point of Sale app to handle all transactions.
Guest Services Assistants check festival tickets using the Eventbrite scanning system, selling on-site tickets and assisting guests as they enter and exit sessions.
FOLD Kids Planning Team members plan and deliver events specific to FOLD Kids. They meet once a month to discuss programming and all event planning needs.
FOLD Planning Team members are senior volunteers who meet once a month to plan and execute the FOLD's year-round programming needs. Positions to join the Planning Team are posted as they become available.
The FOLD Foundation Board of Directors meets on a bi-monthly basis to guide the direction of The FOLD Foundation. In addition to their behind-the-scenes work, directors volunteer at the festivals.
The FOLD Foundation's mission is to create a vibrant community of readers and writers by celebrating diverse authors and literature in Brampton, Ontario – one of Canada’s most culturally diverse cities.
