Event Volunteering

Event Volunteering !!

Most volunteers begin with Event Volunteering.  Volunteers are critical for the success of our events - and allow our guests to have a Best Day Ever experience at the Rosamond Gifford Zoo.

Get Started Now - No training required
No training is required for most event-related volunteer roles and volunteers do not need to make a long-term commitment to assist with events.  This is a great way to tip your toe into volunteering, earn community service hours for school
, or simply support the Zoo on an ad-hoc basis.  Event volunteering is the first step into more advanced volunteer roles.

Basic Volunteer Roles
While all events vary - most events will have volunteer roles related to:

  • set up and tear down / gate assistance (non-public facing volunteer roles)
  • guest registration / check in / information tables / raffle & silent auction tables
  • assisting guests at crafts tables and selfie stations
  • assisting outside guests:  vendors / guest entertainers / invited speakers / sponsors
  • concessions / treat stations / milk & cookie stations / beer & wine stations

Volunteer Descriptions
All event volunteer position descriptions will provide a description of tasks associated with the role, if the position is public facing with guest interaction or not, and address any specific requirements to complete the task (age requirements, level of physical activity - ie: significant standing, walking and carrying, or any trainings required).

New volunteers can sign up for any event-related volunteer position, shift that meets their needs / interests for which they are also required.
