Education - Summer Camp Helper (6-11)
FOR EDUCATION APPROVED VOLUNTEERS ONLY
Summer Zoo Camp provides enrolled children a weeklong experience at the Zoo. This camp program is designed for ages 6-11, providing them with the ability to interact with animals and staff at the zoo and participate in games, activities and crafts. If you enjoy working with children - this volunteer task is for you!
Volunteers will help the education team by:
- Assisting with general daily tasks (cleaning and organizing)
- Supervising lunch time - passing out lunches and snacks
- Assisting with crafts and other activities with the children
- Chaperoning / Monitoring day campers throughout the day
This is a public facing position and all volunteers must be approved education program volunteers. This activity will require modest physical activity, and may require extensive walking/ motoring through the park. Volunteers should wear their RED Volunteer shirt and name tag.
Volunteers with prior experience at the RG Zoo between the ages of 16 and 18 are eligible to assist with Summer Zoo Camp with Education approval.
To Become an Education Approved Volunteer, volunteers must:
- complete volunteer orientation
- complete a minimum of 20 hours of general / event volunteer service
- have a signed standard waiver form on file
- complete and pass a background check
- complete any other specified training as required by education (per activity)
