Education - Zoo Safari Helper

FOR EDUCATION APPROVED VOLUNTEERS ONLY

Zoo Safari on-site educational programs engage participants in hands-on learning during their field trip to the zoo. Zoo educators work with classroom teachers or group leaders to tailor an educational program that meets the groups’ needs. Participants visit the zoo’s classroom where learning will be reinforced through a 60-minute presentation using hands on activities, animal artifacts and may also include a live animal encounter.

Volunteers will assist the Education Staff with the following tasks:

  • Help facilitating educational activities during the Zoo Safari onsite program
  • Assist with biofacts, crafts, stations, hand sanitizer, etc. during the program
  • Overall supervision and monitoring of program participants under the direction of Ed Team

This is a public facing position and all volunteers must be approved education program volunteers.  This activity will require moderate physical activity, requires use of stairs, carrying heavy objects, being outside, and long periods of standing.

Upon arrival to the zoo for your shift, please report to the classroom across from the Honey Bee Café.
If you have any issues or concerns, please contact education apartment at 315-435-8511 ext. 8531.
