Welcome to the Ginninderry Conservation Trust
Volunteer Hub
Volunteers with the Ginninderry Conservation Trust are provided with opportunities to be involved and learn about conservation and citizen science at work within the Ginninderry conservation corridor.
We have a range of opportunities that you can be involved in.
The Corridor showcases leadership in science-based biodiversity restoration, innovative community management, sustainable recreation and active learning opportunities and partnerships. It is an important part in ensuring the sustainability of Ginninderry, showcases the importance of environmental assets to the community and aims to inspire action for conservation.
Help us monitor the incredible species that call the Ginninderry Conservation Corridor home. We use multiple methods to monitor flora and fauna: handling animals, surveying through transects, quadrants, sweeps and random spotting. These will provide you with valuable experiences in the environmental field.
Volunteers for these activities need to have a moderate to high level of fitness.
Volunteers can assist in engaging with and talking to the public through tours. They will help staff facilitate guided walks for the public and schools. Our guide will tell visitors about the projects being carried out in the corridor. The tours are always fun and a great way to learn more about what we do in the corridor.
All tour and education volunteers must have a current Working with Vulnerable People card.
There are many trails throughout the corridor that need to be maintained and kept in good condition. Trail maintenance can involve removing branches from trails, brush cutting and erosion control.
A Moderate level of fitness is required for this activity.
This activity can involve working in hilly areas, chipping, spraying and hand-pulling a range of weeds in the corridor.
Volunteers for this activity will need to have a moderate level of fitness.
The ACT Waterwatch program is a community engagement initiative. It aims to encourage and support the community to take responsibility for improving the quality of water in catchments.
Volunteers will be involved in water testing and macroinvertebrate/water bug surveying.
A moderate level of fitness is required for this activity.
Frogwatch is an integral part of the Ginninderra Catchment Group and focuses on providing a community frog-monitoring program that involves large numbers of volunteers of all ages to undertake frog monitoring and protect frog habitats. No prior frog ID knowledge is required to participate.
A low to moderate level of fitness is required for this activity.

We recognise and respect the privileges and responsibilities of helping protect the river whilst enjoying and celebrating its generous values - environmental and cultural. The Ginninderry Conservation Trust is charged with protecting the cultural and environmental values in the conservation corridor which envelopes the Ginninderry community, including Ginninderra Falls and the Murrumbidgee River.
