Vet Services (16+ years)

Vet Services volunteers assists the staff with preparing treatments (medicine) and administer medicine to animals in the shelter.
Objective
Provide our animals with the proper medication in a timely manner.
Duties
- Restocking
- Assisting staff with preparing medication
- Administering medication
- Checking Signage is accurate.
Skills Needed
We are looking for individuals who have experience giving medications. A medical background in the animal or human field is preferred, but not required. Individuals must have strong communication skills and are able to work independently. This is a physical and fast paced position. You will often need to kneel and bend over to reach animal kennels that are closer to the floor. Must be confident with handling cats and cat behavior. Must be comfortable giving pills, using a pill popper, and administering eye meds. Must be comfortable reading medication labels and treatment sheets provided by the vet staff. This position requires a long-term commitment, due to the time it takes to train volunteers. This position does require excellent communication skills with staff if unable to make it into the shelter for your volunteer position.

Commitment/Age Requirement
Minimum of a 6-month commitment required.
Must be 16 years or older.
Current Open Shifts:
- Mondays: 8:15-10:15am
- Tuesdays: 8:15-10:15am, 430-6pm
- Wednesdays: 8:15-10:15am, 430-6pm
- Thursdays: 8:15-10:15am, 430-6pm
- Fridays: 8:15--10:15am, 430-6pm
- Saturday: 330-5pm
- Sunday: 8:15-10:15am
