Lebanon Hills Regional Park - 4.18 - 7.31: Visual Turtle Survey Volunteer
General Description
Help us take inventory of our local turtle populations. Volunteers will be able to select predetermined routes set up throughout Lebanon Hills Regional Park to survey for turtles in the park. Volunteers will adopt a route that they will visit weekly from June through July. At each stop, volunteers will identify and count any turtles they see. A great way to get outside and help us collect important data on park animal populations.

Flexible Schedule
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Hike pre-determined points
- Identify and count turtles in the park
- Record and report data on provided documents
- Keep track of and report volunteer hours in Better Impact
Minimum Qualifications:
- Able to make a commitment through the whole season (Late April through July)
- Ability to hike off trail and on uneven terrain, up to 1 - 2 miles at a time
- Ability to work independently
- Experience with turtles is a plus
Minimum Time Commitment:
- Flexible schedule
- About one hour per week
Activity Level:
Moderate - To fully participate may require leisurely walking over primarily even surfaces. There may be a limited number of steps, a minimal amount of uneven surfaces, and some standing for extended periods of time. Comfortable shoes recommended.
Required Training
Training will be hosted in-person this year. We will have an opportunity to review the training online if you cannot make it to the training in-person. Food will be provided for all volunteers.
