Thompson County Park - 6.21 - 6.22: Thompson County Park Savanna Prairie Planting

 

General Description

Come join with your neighbors for an evening on the prairie as we work to restore the oak savanna at Thompson County Park. This is a family friendly event for ages 5+ and no experience is needed!

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Plant native plants in a savanna prairie setting.
  • Water new plants.
  • Spread mulch.
  • Additional groundwork and prep work as needed.  

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Able to attend the full event.
  • Must be able to walk on uneven terrain and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Must be OK with getting a little dirty and being outside in nature. 

 

Minimum Time Commitment

2 hours

 

Activity Level

Moderate - Includes working off pathways or trails on uneven surfaces or walking short distances over various terrain. You will be working outside in the elements, so please dress accordingly. Comfortable shoes and anti-bug clothing recommended.

 

Required Training

Training will be offered at the start of the event.
