Lebanon Hills Regional Park - 9.27: National Public Lands Day at Lebanon Hills Regional Park


General Description

Give a little love to your local parks. Dakota County Parks and Great River Greening invite you to come out and help us improve the health and quality of our park through a morning of fun native restoration projects. Together, we will plant native prairie grasses and wildflowers to continue restoration efforts in Lebanon Hills Regional Park.

 

This fun, hands-on, family-friendly, all ages event will give you an opportunity to participate and learn about stewardship and natural resource investment through park improvement projects. All ages and abilities are welcome. We will offer both kid-friendly activities as well as adult activities. Breakfast and parking are free.

 

Registration - Great River Greening will be taking care of registration for this year's event. 8 a.m. - 9 a.m. - Registration & breakfast

9 a.m. – Noon - Restoration projects

11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. - Outdoor activities & recruitment fair 

 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Help plant native plants and seed native prairies with direction from county staff and GRG volunteers.
  • Help support the restoration projects as needed. You will be assigned to a project by priority need and by ability. 
  • Able t0 attend the whole duration of the event (9 a.m. - Noon). 

 

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • We recommend volunteers be at least 5 years old to fully engage with this event but all ages are welcomed to participate. Must be 16 years old or older to participate without an adult present. 
  • Some areas will have uneven terrain and need standing for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift carry 5-25 pounds safely.
  • Event will be entirely outside. Please prep and plan for the day's weather conditions. 
  • If you would like to volunteer as a group (families not included), please contact our volunteer coordinator before registering so that we can help get your whole family accounted for.

3 hours

 

Activity Level

Active - Involves physical exertion for an extended period of time; can involve rough, uneven or steep terrain. Not recommended for volunteers with physical limitations.
