General Interests

Marketplace - Egg Candling

On Mondays at Tuesdays the farmers drop off eggs at Locavore. Each carton needs to be inspected, candled (a process to look for cracks or irregularities) and placed into a new Central Oregon Locavore egg carton. Sometimes we will send out a call for egg candling help on other days of the week depending on when the farmers have eggs to sell to us.

Marketplace Jar Sanitizing

Locavore accepts glass jars to be sanitized, and then placed on the marketplace floor to be used in our bulk section. Each week we organize, sanitize, tare, and prepare glass jars to be used in the  marketplace.

Marketplace - Administrative and Filing work

Assisting our staff with administrative work such as filing, data entry, and mailing campaigns

Building Maintenance and Groundskeeping

Support with caring for the Locavore Urban Garden, pollinator gardens, and container gardens. Includes weeding, parking lot maintenance, watering, and organizing.

Public Relations, Marketing, Fundraising

Assisting with our marketing and fundraising initiatives, inspiring people to know more and do more

Event Crew

Helping out at our many events such as the Locavore Holiday Gift Faire, Annual Fundraising Gala, On-Farm Dinners, and pop up farmers markets

Gardening and Garden Management

In the spring and summer Locavore plants and tends our "Locavore Urban Garden", as well as our large pollinator garden along 3rd Street. Volunteers will help us manage these beautiful spaces under the direction of the Market Manager and Groundskeeper.

Research and Data Compilation

Locavore has several committees, run by members of the board, and occasionally there is a need for research and data gathering to support the work being done. Volunteers will be provided with clear direction and tools by their point person on the committee.

Mission Statement

We are a 501(c)3 non-profit supporting local food and farms through educational programs and a year round indoor farmers market.
