Why volunteer at Oxfam Australia?

At Oxfam Australia, we believe all lives are equal and no one should live in poverty. We are a member of Oxfam International, a global confederation working with partners and local communities in 76 countries.

Volunteering at Oxfam means you will be part of an organisation that is making a difference. You can learn new skills (or add to the skills you already have), meet like-minded people, and contribute to realising a more just and equal world.

The role

Over the summer of 2026 and 2027, Oxfam will be engaging in phase two of our community engagement and events pilot. This initiative will involve Oxfam Australia having a presence at a number of events and activations across Melbourne and beyond.

As part of this pilot, we will be engaging up to 20 volunteers to support Oxfam on a flexible basis with our presence at planned events scheduled between October and April. If you are looking for an opportunity to volunteer on a flexible basis and support Oxfam with our campaigning and community engagement initiatives, this is the perfect role for you!

  • Volunteers may also support with some pre and post-event tasks at our West Melbourne office or online.

  • Commitment to the role and Oxfam’s values.

Training provided

  • Training will be provided by members of Oxfam teams in advance of the pilot activities and events.
  • Introduction to Oxfam via the volunteer induction process.

We promote diversity and practice equity. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are encouraged to apply.
