Patient Transport / Escort Volunteer

The Escort Service plays an important part in helping patients attend their appointments at other major hospitals, clinics or nursing homes.

Volunteer Escorts provide valuable customer service and companionship to patients at the Repat Health Precinct's Statewide Rehabilitation Services. They assist by accompanying patients to various appointments, such as dental or eye clinic visits, ensuring they receive the support they need throughout the process.

Duties

• Support patients in attending appointments by applicable travel options (taxi) and escorting the patient to the destination
• Support patients in attending appointments or outings for personal reasons via government owned vehicles following a successful driving application
• Assist the patient with checking in for their appointment and other information
• Working cooperatively with hospital and Allied Health staff to ensure the non-clinical and support needs of patients are met
• Assist the patient with wheelchair escorts
• Liaise with hospital staff to ensure the patient welfare is priority (providing drinks of water etc)

Hours of Service

Shift times:             Between 8am to 4:30pm (times vary depending on appointment times)

Days:                       Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays)

Location of shift:    Various locations – all commencing at Repat Health Precinct Statewide Rehabilitation Services, Building 12
