Volunteer Opportunities
Recreation Volunteer
The Recreation Volunteer helps Recreation staff in delivering engaging programs with efficiency and maintaining a fun environment. Volunteers provide non-medical, social support by engaging with residents through recreational activities.
All volunteers model behavior that demonstrates AgeCare’s guiding principles: Trust, Respect, Quality and Teamwork. The volunteer encourages safety awareness in the community as part of the AgeCare Team.
Entertainment Volunteer
The Entertainment Volunteer supports Recreation staff in delivering entertainment for residents on a regular basis. Volunteers provide entertainment which may include, but not limited to, singing, music, dance, etc. Volunteering also directly creates an improved quality of life for residents.
Pet Therapy Volunteer
Interaction with animals may offer therapeutic value and can enhance resident quality of life. Pet Therapy Volunteers must abide by the AgeCare Policy, Animal Visitation and Pets within the Policy Category, Infection Prevention and Control.
AgeCare SkyPointe - Companion/Friendly Visitor Volunteer
AgeCare SkyPointe is seeking consistent volunteers for the role of Companion Volunteer. The Companion/Friendly Visitor Volunteer will support residents in creating and enjoying meaningful experiences through one-to-one companion visits and activities; including playing cards, chatting, participating together in recreation programs, or other activities as mutually decided between AgeCare, the resident and volunteer. Volunteers must maintain a weekly schedule to develop a social relationship with residents at AgeCare SkyPointe. All volunteers model behavior that demonstrates AgeCare’s guiding principles: Trust, Respect, Quality and Teamwork.
AgeCare Miller Crossing (Edmonton) - Mealtime Assistant Volunteer
The Meal Assistant Volunteer role supports residents during mealtimes by assisting assigned individuals with feeding and enhancing the dining experience through companionship, conversation, and social interaction. This is a volunteer position that has associated risks and as a result, requires proper screening and training to ensure the volunteer is equipped with the knowledge, skills and support they need to be successful and keep residents safe. Applicants must be 18 years of age. Volunteers must be able to commit to at least one shift per week for at least 6 months to one year.

Volunteers are required to follow all Meal Assistant guidelines and complete an online orientation and practical hands-on training before beginning their role. Please Note: AgeCare Miller Crossing (Edmonton) is currently accepting volunteer applications only for the Meal Assistant Volunteer role.
