The Youth Collective – Leeds Art Gallery

What is the Youth Collective?

  • This is an established group of young people aged 14-24 based at Leeds Art Gallery, supported by our Youth Engagement Officer.
  • The Youth Collective members meet on the first Saturday of every month, contribute to the life of the gallery, support the development of activities for other young people and develop knowledge and skills for Art Award Bronze, Silver and Gold qualification.

What’s in it for you?

  • Gain experience of delivering teen tours and workshops.

  • Work on activities supporting our current exhibitions.

  • The opportunity to progress to other gallery projects.

What’s involved? 

  • Assisting the Youth Engagement Officer with events and workshops. Researching our art and sculpture collections.
  • Collaborating with arts professionals.
  • Assisting with gallery preparation and display installation.
  • Developing creative ideas for our events and workshops.

 

This volunteer role will suit you if you are..

  • Aged between 14 and 24.
  • Enthusiastic, reliable and willing to commit to volunteering for five hours once a month, with additional hours if required.
  • Interested in art, design, history, sculpture and social media.
  • Enjoy learning as part of a team.
  • Would like to gain knowledge and practical gallery experience.

     

You should be willing to abide by the Council’s code of conduct, which will be explained to you by the Youth Engagement Officer.  No qualifications or experience is required as training will be given.

Expenses:

Out of pocket travel costs between home and place of volunteering will be paid up to the value of £6.00, subject to terms and conditions.
