Family Programming Support

Role: Family Programming Support (only in-person sessions) 

Purpose: Assisting the Settlement Team to deliver workshops and programs designed specifically for immigrant families with children of all ages. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Assist with set up, take down and clean up of event space 
  • Welcome families; ensure children are signed in and out accordingly, and have name tags 
  • Engage children of different age groups and culture backgrounds in activities and games 
  • Provide support and supervision to children while parents participate in sessions 
  • Help children with crafts, prepare snacks, provide one-on-one attention, lead reading circle, etc 
  • Guide and redirect children in situations of conflict 

Competencies: 

  • Awareness and ability to respond to the needs/safety of children during various activities 
  • Experience working with immigrant population 
  • Highly responsible, organized, reliable and culturally sensitive 
  • Experience working as part of a team 
  • Takes direction well 

Qualifications: 

  • Previous experience working with children 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills 
  • Digital Skill is an asset for virtual volunteer opportunities 

 

Additional Information: 

  • Training for this position will be provided after the application submission 
  • Criminal Record check request letter will be provided after completion of the training sessions 
  • Age requirement: over 19
