Volunteer Coordinator
Activity Summary:
Be a part of serving the community by helping us manage our most precious resource: our volunteers!
The Volunteer Coordinator will provide administrative support to manage volunteers for The Salvation Army. Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
- Answering questions and screening potential volunteers
- Supporting volunteers with the online and paper applications processes
- Assist with required volunteer on-boarding practices and procedures
- Recruiting and retaining volunteers
- Coordinating the volunteers’ schedules to ensure activity coverage
The Volunteer Coordinator is expected to commit to 10 hours per week Monday-Friday between the hours of 10:00am – 3:00pm.
Qualifications:
- 18 years or older
- Reliable, professional, and hard working
- Friendly and approachable demeanor
- Ability to relate to and work with people from diverse backgrounds
- Possess excellent communication abilities
- Pass initial screening process, including a background check
- Bilingual abilities are a plus
Policies:
Alcohol, drugs, and smoking are not permitted at any Salvation Army facilities or volunteer sites.
Pants/shorts and a shirt with sleeves must cover the waist and fit comfortably. Transparent and tight-fitting clothes are not permitted. For your safety, closed toe shoes are required.
Off-street parking is available.

- Background Check
- Safe From Harm Training Level Completed Must be at least Basic Mod 1-5
- Illinois Mandated Reporter Training Must be Completed
- What age category do you belong? Must be at least 21 or older
