Social Services Intern
Activity Summary:
Be a part of serving the community in our Social Services office!
The Social Services Intern assists guests in applying for assistance programs. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Provide excellent customer service to individuals calling into the Life Center office
- Supply information over the phone and about available assistance programs
- Help potential clients to apply for rent and utility assistance
- Assist with all food pantry activities
- Pre-screen clients for Pathway of Hope
- Help with Outreach events as available
- Learn about social service providers and attend some inter agency meetings when available (TBD)
The Social Services Intern can set a flexible schedule during Life Center business hours.
Qualifications:
- 18 years or older
- Knowledgeable of Corps’ ministries
- Ability to show kindness and compassion to everyone
- Reliable, professional, and hard working
- Must honor confidentiality policies appropriately
- Passion for providing excellent service to clients of The Salvation Army
- Works well with people from diverse backgrounds
- Pass initial screening process, including a background check
- Bilingual abilities are a plus
Policies:
Alcohol, drugs, and smoking are not permitted at any Salvation Army facilities or volunteer sites.
Pants/shorts and a shirt with sleeves must cover the waist and fit comfortably. Transparent and tight-fitting clothes are not permitted. For your safety, closed toe shoes are required.
Off-street parking is available.
