Literacy and Learning - Refugee K-12 After School Program Volunteer

Please contact Chong Xiong, After School Program Coordinator, chongx@firminc.org for the location of the after school program sites, if you are interested! The sites do not take place on FIRM campus!

The Afterschool Program is designed for young children aged K-12 grade who have been in the US as a refugee, parolee or SIV for 5 years or less. The purpose of this program is to provide mentorship, engagement, homework support and new experiences for newly arrived youth. We will have volunteers during all activities while the program operates. This opportunity is a fantastic way for those interested in childcare, psychology, or the education fields to gain meaningful experience. This takes place at predetermined locations, at specific weekday afternoon times, and under staff supervision. A volunteer training and a background check (cost of which is covered by FIRM) is required. After signing up for this position, FIRM staff will contact you shortly.
