Volunteering

The Perth Royal Show simply doesn’t go on without the help of our extraordinary volunteers.

Volunteers are responsible for much of the excitement at the Perth Royal Show, from helping run activations in the Agventure space, looking after the animals in the Nursery, to roving around the Show being helpful!

Volunteering at the Perth Royal Show is a fantastic way to experience the exhibitions and help out the community, while also getting a behind-the-scenes look at Perth’s most iconic annual event.

With endless hours of activities and entertainment every day, there are plenty of different ways to help out.

We’d also love to hear about any special skills or interests you have, so we can match you up with your perfect role.

We look forward to signing you up as a volunteer for the 2025 Perth Royal Show where you can be a part of the excitement and festivities.

If you have any questions, please refer to the Volunteer FAQs.

General Interests

AgVenture Hill

Volunteering on AgVenture Hill is one of the most sought-after areas of the Show! With fun activations and a chance to experience them all in the one shift, you will help patrons connect the country to the city with everything about WA agriculture.

Agricultural Hall of Fame

Volunteers will ideally have an interest in history and agriculture.

Volunteers in the Hall greet visitors, share some history about the Hall, the art and the people that are celebrated there as part of the rich fabric of Western Australia’s Agricultural history.

Alpacas/Diary Goats

Volunteers help manage alpaca displays and competitions, assisting exhibitors and maintaining tidy, safe pens. They also interact with the public, providing general information about alpacas and their role in agriculture.

Animals

Our animal patting activations may be the first time a person has had the opportunity to get close to animals. Your role as a volunteer is to enhance the experience of the public by welcoming them, giving them a smile, answering questions, and always maintaining the safety of animals and the public.

Art Show

Volunteers support the presentation of visual art by assisting with exhibit handling, gallery supervision, and visitor engagement. They help ensure the space remains welcoming and artworks are protected. The Art Prize is help before Perth Royal Show. The Art Show is paused for 2026 but will be back in 2027.

Cattle

Volunteers support cattle judging and display areas, helping with coordination, safety, and communication between exhibitors and stewards. Tasks may include guiding the public and ensuring animal welfare standards are upheld.

Creative Arts and Cookery

Volunteers support the display and management of handmade items, baking, preserves, and craft exhibits. Duties include assisting with exhibit intake, stewarding judging areas, answering visitor questions, and helping maintain an organised and attractive display space. Some volunteers are needed in the 2 weeks prior to Show.

Creative Arts and Cookery (Pre Show)

The Creative Arts and Cookery competition is one of the longest standing exhibitions at the Perth Royal Show.

We are looking for volunteers to assist pre-Show, during Judging Week.

Tasks include setting up displays and cabinets, placing entries in correct area, assisting stewards taking photos of displays and 'running' entries to judging positions. You will need to be able to move quickly at times, especially during judging.

This is a great opportunity to see what goes on behind the scenes of one of the most popular exhibitions at the Show!

Customer Service - Information Booth

The Information Booth is a busy, fast-paced environment, where exceptional customer service and a thorough knowledge of the Show is a must. You will be assisting Show patrons with their enquiries and giving accurate information in a timely fashion. Be prepared to be asked the same question many times!

Customer Service - Support Crew

Support Crew covers breaks and shifts, stepping in as needed to ensure smooth operations. They provide flexible support across roles, cover volunteer breaks, fill in for absent team members, and help keep everything running without disruption.

Customer Service - Various roles

If you have excellent interpersonal skills and love to engage and help people, we have various opportunities available. You may be required to greet patrons as they arrive, hand out Child ID wristbands or rove the Showground providing maps and directions.
