Classroom: Assist with preparation/copies, field trips, parties

Purpose: To assist classroom staff with requested tasks 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist teachers with material preparation and other projects in the workroom and in the classroom and during special grade-level activities

  • Work under the direction of and in cooperation with the classroom teacher 

  • Assist students in completing daily classroom assignments or special projects
  • Build students’ self—esteem and help them develop a more positive attitude toward learning

  • Be aware of time frame

  • Always treat all situations with confidentiality

  • Provided support for the classroom teacher

Time Commitment:

Flexible Hours:  Hours are set up by teacher (classroom staff) and the volunteer.  Generally average a couple of hours a week.

Expected Number of Volunteer Hours:  2 hours each week throughout school year

Skills Required: 

  • Possesses a warm personally

  • Willing to work under direct supervision of teacher and follow directions

  • Works well with staff and students

  • Ability to relate well to children

  • Has a strong commitment to be positive role model, tutor, advocate

  • Ability to adapt to diverse environments and personalities

  • Patience, enthusiastic and have a strong desire to work with students

  • Sense of humor 

  • Ability to do workroom machines

  • Good listener and communicates well

  • Flexible

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work under the direction of and in cooperation with the classroom teacher 

  • Perform necessary task to ensure safety of all students

  • Be aware of time and schedules

  • Always treat all situations with confidentiality

Time Commitment:

Fixed Hours: 3-6 hours a day for that one field trip (these hours vary according to the field trip)

Expected Number of Volunteer Hours:  Varies depending on the number of field trips that the volunteer goes on

Skills Required: 

  • Possesses a warm personally

  • Willing to work under direct supervision of teacher 

  • Works well with staff and students

  • Ability to relate well to children

  • Has a strong commitment to be positive role model

VSC Responsibilities:

  • Assist classroom teacher to find volunteers for the field trip

  • Volunteers must have a completed Volunteer Application and CHRH on file
