Garden (Park Spark) - 2026 Youth Urban Garden Team
Share your knowledge, learn new skills, and give back to your community in a fun and meaningful way by becoming a member of the Youth Urban Garden Team! Being a member of the Youth Urban Garden Team will include various activities such as caring for and maintaining garden beds at the Inspiration Garden or other gardens, park cleanups, and assisting with planning other park enhancement opportunities for the Team. Becoming a Youth Urban Garden team member is an excellent opportunity to meet others with the same interests and get involved in your community. No previous experience is required, all skill levels are welcome.
Volunteer Roles:
- Earn volunteer hours while contributing to your community in a beautiful, outdoor environment
- Get outside and get active while connecting with like-minded people in your community and making a positive impact on the planet!
- Share gardening tips & techniques and gain experience in the care of various plants
Qualifications:
- Must be between the age of 13 to 17 years old
- Have a positive attitude and a willingness to learn
- Friendly and able to work in a team environment
- Eager to get your hands dirty
- Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
Details:
Location: Garden volunteers meet at the Inspiration Garden at Town Centre Park, at the corner of Guildford Way and Pipeline Rd (see map below for parking).
Parking is located in LOT D, behind the tennis courts (2 hours). The garden is also an 8 minute walk from Lafarge Lake-Douglas Station.
Notes:
- Please let us know if it is your first time volunteering, and an orientation and training session will be provided by Park Spark staff during your first shift.
- This event will run rain or shine. Wear clothing which is ok to get dirty but appropriate for the weather and gardening.
- Gardening tools are provided but rain gear, boots and hats are the responsibility of the volunteer
- Disposable nitrile gloves and reusable garden gloves will be available and volunteers are welcome to bring their own gardening gloves if they wish. Closed toe shoes are mandatory for safety reasons.
- Washrooms are located nearby in the park either at the concession building or next to the Evergreen Cultural Centre
