Share your knowledge, learn new skills, and give back to your community in a fun and meaningful way by becoming a Poirier Garden volunteer! Poirier Garden volunteers help to care for and maintain the Garden by carrying out a variety of general gardening tasks including weeding, planting, and watering. Becoming a garden volunteer is an excellent opportunity to meet others with the same interests and get involved in your community. No previous gardening experience is required, all skill levels are welcome.   

Volunteer Roles:

🌱  Working in a healthy outdoor environment

🌱  Sharing gardening tips and techniques

🌱  Gaining experience in the care of various plants

🌱  Getting outside and getting active while connecting with like-minded people in your community. 

Details:

Location: Meet us at the Centennial Rose Garden

Notes:

• Wear clothing that you're okay with getting dirty. We will be working on rose bushes with sharp thorns, so be aware of snagging clothes, and wear longsleeves if you want to protect your arms.
• Please dress weather-appropriate (e.g. sunscreen, rain jacket, etc.) as this event will take place rain or shine! Gardening tools are provided but rain gear, boots and hats are the responsibility of the volunteer.
• Closed toe shoes are mandatory for safety reasons.
• All garden equipment and supplies will be provided, but you are welcome to bring your own garden gloves if you prefer. If it's your first shift, please let us know! Orientation and training will be provided by the Park Spark Program Leader.
• The closest washrooms are available at the Dogwood Pavilion next-door.
• Please ensure your valuables are pocketable, or left at home! There is no designated locked area to keep bags.
