Sport Host Volunteer Job Description



Park Spark Program – Sport Host



To enhance the sport experience for the public by providing site-specific information and expertise.  Performing tasks to keep Coquitlam parks accessible, safe and clean.




§     13 years of age or older

§     Ability to work outdoors and walk distances

§     Background in outdoor sport, recreation.

§     Local knowledge of the park, or willingness to learn (site specific training available)

§     Friendly, with good communication skills

§     Problem solving skills

§     Police information check and 2 references

§     Attendance at an orientation session and training session




§     Act as an ambassador for the park, answering questions from the public and sharing park information (field locations, washrooms, etc.)

§     Lend out sporting equipment

§     Participate/ assist in outdoor sport activities

§     Observe and report on sport field conditions

§     Pick up litter and other small maintenance tasks as required

§     Opportunity to lead sport amenity tours

§     Model appropriate behaviour by maintaining the integrity of Coquitlam Parks (including dress, grooming, and language)



Necessary equipment and uniform (branded vest) provided.  Orientation session, training and support provided by the Parks staff.



A minimum of 8 hours/month for at least one year (Most shifts between April-August)



Meet new people, increase physical fitness and healthy living, share your knowledge with others and connect new residents to Coquitlam outdoor sport amenities.
