Play Partners

Volunteers and students in child care work under the guidance of ECE staff to engage children in fun and age-appropriate activities in our full day child care or Before and After School programs. They act as role models and ensure the safeguarding of children and youth.

Time Commitment:

  • Minimum time commitment three months
  • Weekly time commitment varies by centre

Requirements:

  • Minimum age 13
  • Successful applicants 18 years of age or older will need to provide a Vulnerable Sector Screening from their local police service before their first day of volunteering and every three years on the anniversary of their first day of volunteering.
  • Completion of Health Assessment and Immunization Records required.
  • First Aid and CPR Level C an asset.
  • Strong communication skills, teamwork and flexibility.
  • A general understanding of child development.
  • Adherence to YMCA A Place to Connect guidelines, Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA) and YMCA policies and procedures.
  • Ability to engage children in a variety of activities.
  • Responsibility, reliability and commitment to their role.
