The Columbus Recreation and Parks Department’s Playground Program facilitated twenty-three events in 2018, taking place from April 7th to October 13th. The program continues to grow each year. A total of 455 volunteers donated over 1,300 hours last summer to help keep CRPD’S playgrounds and parks safe and clean. The Playground Program generated over $33,000 in donated time and, to date, the program has saved CRPD an estimated $120,000 in labor costs.
2019 is already looking to be a successful year for the park maintenance volunteer programs! We are looking for volunteer groups to help maintain and enhance our parks in the 2019 season, so please contact Betty Blockinger at BKBlockinger@Columbus.gov if your group is interested in signing up. Volunteer groups are placed all over the City of Columbus and are scheduled Tuesday-Saturday for 3 hour increments, April-October.
