Hellhole Canyon County Preserve

Trailhead: 15324 Paradise Mountain Road, Valley Center, CA 92082

This rugged 2,000-acre preserve offers over 13 miles of challenging trails through canyons, chaparral, and oak woodlands. It’s a favorite for experienced hikers, equestrians, and wildlife enthusiasts looking to explore remote natural beauty.

  • There is one host campsite with full hookups (electricity, water, and sewer) located at the trailhead.

Wilderness Gardens County Preserve

This tranquil 737-acre preserve features easy-to-moderate trails, a year-round creek, and scenic views of the San Luis Rey River. Once a historic farm and garden site, it’s now a peaceful spot for hiking, birdwatching, and connecting with nature.

  • The preserve has one host campsite with full hookups (electricity, water, and sewer).
