About Us

The Capilano University Marketing Association (CAPUMA) was founded in 2014 by a small group of business students. Capilano University Marketing Association is a part of the BC collegiate chapters of the American Marketing Association. We provide opportunities to unite students and industry professionals. Our association creates marketing-related events that support student’s knowledge, experience, and skills to enhance their education, career, and beyond. We are the leading student association in marketing resources, industry professionals, and community engagement.

Job Summary

The Director of Marketing will oversee a team of three or more while working in conjunction with fellow Directors. The role includes you being responsible for developing and initiating a cohesive marketing plan that will be utilized throughout the year to support and promote CAPUMA initiatives, activities, and events to students, faculty, etc. Duties will include but are not limited to activity delegating takes, assisting team members, continue to communicate and monitor team initiatives, monitor deadlines to ensure timelines are met, and act as the main coordinator of promotional material through the Design Manager, Manager of Social Media and the Manager of Media.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties included but not limited to:

Director Responsibilities

  • Manage a team and ensure deadlines are met
  • Confirm with Capilano University’s Student Code of Conduct by acting in a professional and appropriate manner while communicating with association members, fellow students, and faculty
  • Work professionally under pressure
  • Act as a role model for team members 
  • Actively delegate tasks and offer assistance to other team members
  • Assist and attend hosted association events 
  • Act as an association representative promoting upcoming events and initiatives to others
  • Be pro-active in taking the initiative to continually develop CAPUMA 
  • Communicate effectively within a timely manner

Marketing Responsibilities

  • Act as the main point of contact for all marketing inquires 
  • Drafting a strategic marketing plan focused on boosting member recruitment, AMA membership, and success at events
  • Ability to manage incoming emails and respond promptly
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects
  • Conduct primary and secondary research to discover key areas to target
  • Create and execute a marketing plan with a supported campaign
  • Oversee web presence, website, and social media
  • Develop a digital marketing plan in collaboration with the team that stays consistent with CAPUMA’s vision 
  • Analyze data to determine the effectiveness of marketing strategies and campaigns
  • Other duties as assigned
