Volunteers Needed for Assisting Travelers at MSP Airport

Program Overview:

The Airport Foundation MSP enhances the experience of millions of passengers traveling through Minneapolis–St. Paul International Airport each year. Through their Travelers Assistance program, volunteers provide guidance, comfort, and support to visitors from around the world. airportfoundation.org

Volunteers serve as one of the airport’s most visible resources, offering information, wayfinding help, and specialized support that ensures a welcoming and smooth travel experience.

Volunteer Activities:

  • Provide friendly customer service at one of 12 information booths
  • Walk the terminals to assist travelers, including international arrivals
  • Support the Animal Ambassadors program with trained therapy animals
  • Assist with arts and culture initiatives that highlight regional artists

Date/Time:

  • Volunteer services operate 7 days a week, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM at MSP Airport.
  • Shifts vary by volunteer role and typically last 2–4 hours.
  • Volunteers must complete at least two shifts per month.

Volunteer Training:

  • Must be 18+ years old
  • Attend one 2-hour orientation and five 2-hour training sessions at the airport
  • Provide two forms of ID to obtain an airport badge (required while on duty)
  • Ability to lift at least 25 lbs

 

What to Wear:

The Foundation provides a uniform vest. Volunteers are encouraged to wear:

  • Neutral-colored shirts, sweaters, or tops
  • Neutral pants, skirts, or capris
  • Denim is allowed (no rips or heavy fading)
  • Comfortable shoes
  • Jewelry that does not obscure name tag or airport security badge

Volunteers cannot wear:

  • Shorts, sweatpants, or sweatshirts
  • T-shirts with logos
  • Flip-flops
  • Hats or visors (unless medically exempt)
  • Pins other than approved MAC or Airport Foundation service awards

Parking/Transportation:

  • Parking vouchers are provided for volunteers.
  • Public transportation, including Light Rail Transit, is also a convenient option to and from the airport.

Food/Beverage Availability:

  • A snack and beverage are provided during each scheduled shift.
