Food Shelf Volunteers Needed

 

The Sabathani Community Center provides vigorous community support in the heart of south Minneapolis, serving people of all ages and cultures in a healthy and safe environment. It is home to one of the largest food shelves in the area, offering balanced nutrition selections for entire families. The Center’s food shelf program has enabled 25,000 clients annually to attain food security. 

 

            Description of volunteer duties: Assist at a drive-through food shelf. Pack food bags for 

            clients; sort and store food donations. The work is mostly indoors, with some brief periods outdoors when delivering items to clients' cars.  All staff and volunteers wearing masks, sanitizing, and social distancing is required. 

 

Time:  Monday through Thursday, 2-hour shifts (10 a.m.– 12 p.m.; and 12 p.m. – 2 p.m.)

The online registration indicates whether a particular shift is already filled. There is a 3-volunteer maximum per shift. All persons registering to volunteer will receive an email confirmation.

Parking: Off-street parking on east side of building

 

What to wear (or not to wear): Casual clothing and comfortable shoes
