Job Title: Finance/Accounting Intern

Status: Part-time, 8-10 hours per week
Location: Madison Service Center
Job Summary
The Finance/Accounting Intern is responsible for assisting the Financial Accountant and the Chief
Financial Officer in the council’s financial operations. The Finance/Accounting Intern will primarily process
transactions for input into the council’s general ledger system, including accounts payable, cash receipts,
and credit card transactions. Finance/Accounting Intern will also complete at least one council related project that will demonstrate the intern’s understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Accounts Payable
 Process accounts payable, including the correct account coding, data entry, and issuance of
vendor payments in accordance with vendor terms
 File Accounts Payable paperwork on a timely basis
Credit Card Transactions
 Process credit card transactions, including assurance of proper documentation and approval,
and reconciling the monthly Credit Card statement
 Prepare journal entries to enter these transactions into the General Ledger system
Cash Receipts
 Process daily cash receipts, including proper coding of transactions and posting to the
General Ledger
General Ledger
 Post all general ledger journal entries into the correct month on a timely basis
 Assist with the monthly reconciliation of balance sheet accounts
 Assist with investigation of actual versus budget variances
Other
 Complete at least one finance/accounting related project
 Perform other related duties as requested
Qualifications
 Earned or currently pursuing a degree (Associate Degree or higher) in Accounting, Finance,
Business Administration, or related field

 Must have basic knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
 Excellent data entry skills
 Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
 Must be detailed oriented with excellent organizational skills
 Excellent computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Office, knowledge of Abila a
plus
 Must be comfortable working in team-oriented environments
 Excellent customer service skills
 Must be, or become, a registered member of Girl Scouts of Wisconsin – Badgerland Council,
Inc.
