Crime Watch Team
Working in the community our Crime Watch volunteers help to make our neighborhoods safer through programs such as Speed Watch, Cell Watch and auto crime prevention initiatives. Crime Watch focuses crime prevention and enhanced public safety though direct community education and awareness building.
- Lock Out Auto Crime: Volunteers check parked vehicles to ensure that they are locked and no valuables are in sight. A Crime Prevention Notice, noting the results of the audit, is left on the windshield.
- Speed Watch: Using an electronic Speed Reader Board, volunteers monitor vehicle traffic in high crash intersections, residential, school and park areas and record the number of vehicles obeying speed limits and provide reports.
- Cell Watch: Cell Watch focuses on reducing distracted driving. Volunteers monitor vehicle drivers for use of electronic devices. Drivers using an electronic device are sent a warning letter.
- Patrol: Volunteers patrol the community in a marked volunteer vehicle, on foot, or in pairs on bicycles helping to keep people safe and prevent crime. Bike Patrol generally operates during the spring and summer months.
