Veterinary Internship Program

The Veterinary Internship Program is available (Monday - Friday before 4pm only) to active volunteers for the Yolo County Animal Shelter!

Shelter operations and animal handling skills are very crucial components to being successful in the veterinary field, which is why interested candidates are required to become a volunteer for the shelter first before being considered for the Veterinary Internship Program.

This program is offered first to candidates who have the most volunteer hours logged, but availability is limited, and the program is in high demand, so acceptance to the program is not guaranteed. It is recommended to volunteer in other areas of the shelter for your own benefit and interests! In doing so, YOU will benefit by gaining knowledge and skills, and the ANIMALS will benefit by your time spent here!

If you are interested in this program, please select any other area of interest and follow the instructions to complete all orientations and trainings. Once you have become established as a volunteer, let the volunteer coordinator Jonne know you are interested in this program and she will recommend you.
