The SEED – Market Volunteer
Commitment: ~ 4 hours; One shift per week, or one every other week
Dates/Times: Saturdays; 7 – 10:30 am OR 10:00 am – 1:30 pm
Location: Guelph Farmer’s Market
2 Gordon Street (Corner of Wilson Street and Gordon Street)
Goal of Position: Help make food more physically and financially accessible to community members in Guelph and Wellington County
Duties:
- Engage in friendly conversation with customers
- Make the space feel welcoming and warm for everyone
- Operate the Square Reader for purchases
- Handle cash & make change
- Replenish and sort produce, as needed
- Help to set up or take down the mobile market (from the truck)
- Lift (up to 30lbs)
- Help distribute Groceries from The SEED orders
Skills Required:
- Attention to detail and ability to follow directions closely
- Respectful attitude, including patience and flexibility
- Commitment to equity and anti-oppressive practices
- Comfort with people, friendly attitude, team player
- Comfortable in a fast-paced environment
- Comfort handling and sorting fresh produce
- Can lift up to 30lbs
- Comfort using iPads and cellphone apps
- Comfort handling money
- Supportive of The SEED’s mission, vision, and values
- Reliable and punctual
