CHAPTER EXECUTIVES

Canadian Parents for French is a nationwide, research-informed, volunteer organization that represents 25,000 members across Canada. We are located across the country with 10 Branches and offices, and 135+ local community Chapters. We believe the ability to communicate in more than one language fosters creative, empathetic, and adaptive people who access far-reaching opportunities and enhance the social and economic prosperity of our country. Canada has an enviable capacity to ensure that upcoming generations develop this ability in both official languages. We work to ensure that all learners have the opportunity, support, and motivation to learn and use French. 

POSITION SUMMARY  

Canadian Parents for French (CPF) is looking for volunteers to act as President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, Communications Officer, Membership Coordinator and Members at Large for our local Chapters. The Chapter board is responsible for all Chapter business, ensuring that activities are based on the mission, vision, and values of Canadian Parents for French, support the directions of the CPF Network Strategic Plan and follow the Branch Bylaws and Policies. The chapter board should be comfortable leading, recruiting, training, and delegating tasks to other volunteers.

We are recruiting volunteers who can dedicate 1 to 10 hours per month (minimum) for our local Chapters. Volunteers choose their own schedule each week. 

Each role has its' own qualification however, in general, Chapter executives have EXPERIENCE with:

  • Effective communication and organizational skills.  
  • Prior experience working with nonprofit organizations or the local schoolboard.  
  • Experience in fundraising or advocacy in the school system is a plus.  
  • Strong knowledge about FSL (French Second Language) programs locally, provincially, or nationally.  
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, leadership, coaching, and conflict resolution skills. 
  • Time and project management skills. 
  • Bilingualism is an asset but not required. 

Term commitment for the role is typically 1 or 2 years.
