Support families where it matters most
Volunteering as a Family Support Volunteer is a flexible, rewarding, and truly meaningful way to support children with life‑shortening conditions and their families.
You’ll be carefully matched with a family based on your skills, availability, location, and their needs - and supported every step of the way by our experienced Community Team.
We welcome volunteers from all backgrounds. Please let us know in your application if any adjustments are needed for your chosen role, and we’ll work with you to support this.
How your role makes a difference
By volunteering with families, you help:
- Give parents precious time back with their child
- Lighten the load of daily life through practical support
- Provide emotional support as a listening ear and friendly face
- Create positive moments for siblings and families
- Reduce isolation, helping families feel connected and supported.
Even small acts of kindness can create moments of comfort and connection. A little help from you can make a very big difference.
What you could get involved in
- Befriending or meeting a parent for a coffee or chat
- Helping with shopping or light household tasks
- Gardening or simple home support
- Reading, playing, or spending time with children
- Offering companionship and practical help tailored to each family
Every role is different, and you’ll only be asked to do what you feel comfortable with.
