Vet Prep (Shift Flexibility)

These volunteers assist the vet staff in prepping and cleaning up after surgeries.  Some duties include restocking, cleaning instruments, making scrub and alcohol gauze, cleaning cages, vacuuming, mopping, and setting up surgical instruments to be sanitized. This is a very fast-paced position and physical position.  Individuals must have strong communication skills and be able to work independently. This is a physical position, and you will need to be able to stand for long periods.

 

Objective 

Provide our Vet team with a clean environment so they may assist animals with necessary medical procedures promptly.

 

Duties 

  • Restocking
  • Cleaning instruments
  • Making scrub and alcohol gauze
  • Cleaning cages
  • Vacuuming
  • Sweeping & mopping
  • Setting up surgical instruments to be sanitized
  • Sanitizing surfaces

 

Skills Needed 

This is a physical position. Volunteers must be able to squat, bend, and be on their feet for their full shift. This is a fast-paced environment with a lot of tasks to complete. Volunteers must be able to work independently or with their team members. Strong communication skills are a must and volunteers. This position is very detail-oriented.

  • People-Centered Philosophy – Online Training
  • One on One Training with AC/ACT Staff or a veteran Vet Prep Volunteer

 

Commitment/Age Requirement

A minimum of a 6-month commitment is required.

Must be 16 years or older to volunteer solo, 13–15-year-olds can volunteer with an adult.

 

Shifts:

Typical shifts are 2 hours long between 3pm-6pm. Day of the week we are currently looking to fill are  Tuesdays.
