Arrivals Assistant Volunteer

Our Arrivals Assistant Volunteer provides support to Client Services staff and clients who are bringing animals into the Arrivals area for foster, stray, surrender or end of life services.  

 

Duties  

  • Greet clients and triage client traffic.
  • Assist clients with completing paperwork.
  • Gather client identification.
  • Record voicemails.
  • Assist in returning client calls.
  • Upload contracts and profiles. Copy proof of vaccines.
  • Support staff with entering information into our animal management software.
  • Answer client questions.
  • Sort and put away donations.
  • Restock supplies.
  • General cleaning duties

 

Skills Needed  

Volunteers must:

  • Commit to providing a welcoming environment for all clients and support clients from diverse backgrounds and experiences.
  • Understand and apply our client centered philosophy and approach; this includes approaching clients and situations without judgement.
  • Possess a willingness to challenge personal bias and apply a people-centered approach in all interactions.
  • Keep all client and animal information confidential.
  • Follow directions, read, write and effectively communicate with staff, volunteers and clients. 
  • Have strong attention to detail in verbal and written communication.
  • Be computer savvy and be willing to learn how to use our animal management software.

 

The physical demands for this job include the following: sitting, walking, moderate lifting, writing, typing, grasping, talking, reading and hearing.

 

Open Shift Time(s):  

  • Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday:
    • 10am-12pm
    • 12pm-2pm
    • 2pm-4pm

 

Required Training  

  • Interview with Volunteer Coordinator
  • Meet & Greet with Volunteer Coordinator
  • One on One Training with staff 
  • People Centered Philosophy – Online Training 
  • RAC Volunteer Handbook & Waivers – Online Training 

 

Commitment/Age Requirement

Minimum of a 6-month commitment.

Must be 18 years old or older.
