Shelter Crew (Flexible shifts - Seasonal Opportunities)

Shelter Crew Volunteers will provide support to our Operations and Animal Care Teams doing various tasks around the shelter.

 

Objective 

Helping with laundry (washing, drying, and folding). Washing and sanitizing dishes and toys. Volunteers also help with cleaning around the shelter. Cleaning includes dusting, polishing stainless steel, cleaning cabinets, and windows.

 

Duties 

  • Process dirty laundry
  • Fold clean laundry 
  • Wash windows
  • Cut hotdogs into tiny pieces.
  • Stock area
  • Sort donations

 

Skills Needed 

  • The physical demands of this position include the following: standing, walking, and bending, for an extended period.
  • Volunteers must be detail oriented.

 

Required Training 

  • Meet & Greet with the Volunteer Coordinator
  • Racine Volunteer Handbook & Waivers – Online Training
  • People-Centered Philosophy – Online Training
  • One on One Training with Staff or a veteran Shelter Crew Volunteer

 

Commitment/Age Requirement

A minimum of a 6-month commitment is required.

Must be 16 years or older to volunteer solo, 13–15-year-olds can volunteer with an adult.

 

Shifts:

Flexible to your availability just pick a day and a 2 hour shift between the hours of 9am - 6pm
