Vet Services - (High Need)

Vet Services volunteers assists the staff with preparing treatments (medicine) and administer medicine to animals in the shelter.
Objective
Provide our animals with the proper medication in a timely manner.
Duties
- Restocking
- Preparing prescription food
- Preparing wet food
- Assisting staff with preparing medication
- Administering medication
- Bathing animals
Skills Needed
Individuals must have strong communication skills and be able to work independently. This is a physical and fast-paced position. You will need to kneel and bend over to reach animal kennels that are closer to the floor. Must be confident in handling animals and animal behavior. Must be comfortable giving pills and administering eye meds. Must be comfortable reading medication labels and treatment sheets provided by the vet staff. This position requires a long-term commitment, due to the time it takes to train volunteers. This position does require excellent communication skills with staff if unable to make it into the shelter for your volunteer position.

Commitment/Age Requirement
Minimum of a 6-month commitment required.
Must be 16 years or older.
Shifts:
- Tuesdays 4pm-6pm
- Wednesday 4pm-6pm
- Thursdays 4-6pm
- Fridays 7:30am-9:30am or 4pm-6pm
- Saturdays 8:30am-10:30am
- Sunday 8:30am-10:30am
