Russell Farm Art Center (405 W County Rd 714, Burleson, TX 76028) is hosting educational field trips in partnership with Burleson ISD for 4th grade students.

Volunteer tasks may include: event set-up and clean-up, assisting with a station and student activities

• Station 1 at the Russell-Boren Home: read the provided script, help students identify specific ways the Russell Family depended on, adapted to, and modified their environment (such as a breezeway, shaded porch, or cistern).
• Station 2 at the Dairy Barn and Charlie Boren Art Studio: read the provided script and “mystery cards”, help students consider what each of the artifacts was used for in daily life around the farm, encourage students to look at all kinds of art with curiosity and imagination and identify a favorite piece
• Station 3 in the community gardens: read the provided script, facilitate an Texas Agriculture game
• Station 4: help students load/unload the hay wagon for a donkey-drawn hayride, encourage students to sit and write a sensory poem using good imagery and similies
• Station 5 at the Hay Barn: share the provided story of the founding of Burleson, facilitate students to work in small teams to sequence the key historical events of Burleson's founding using "railroad car cards"

Volunteers should wear closed-toes shoes and be prepared to be outdoors. It is recommended that volunteers bring sunscreen and water to their shift.
