Volunteer Applications at KHSC

We have two separate application forms—one for students and one for non-students.  Each group provides responses to different questions and follows a different onboarding process. Please ensure you complete the correct application:

Student Applicants:

We’re pleased to share that we are now accepting applications from high school, post-secondary and masters/phd students who wish to volunteer at Kingston Health Sciences Centre.

At this time, we are primarily recruiting students who reside in Kingston 12 months of the year, as all of our volunteer roles require ongoing and consistent availability. That said, all students are welcome to apply. Please note that the intake process may take approximately one to two months before volunteers are able to begin.

All applications will be reviewed; however, only applicants selected to move forward in the intake process will be contacted.

Applications will be kept on file for up to four months. If you have not been contacted during that time and remain interested in volunteering, you are welcome to reapply.

Please note that volunteer selection is based on matching applicants’ availability, skills and experience, with current organizational needs. While we are grateful for the skills and experience all applicants bring, not being contacted simply reflects our needs at a particular point in time and does not diminish an applicant’s suitability or potential as a hospital volunteer.

Volunteering at KHSC

At Kingston Health Sciences Centre (KHSC), our volunteers are valued members of the health-care team, making a real difference in the lives of our patients and their families. By offering support, guidance and comfort, volunteers help create a more positive and welcoming experience for everyone who walks through our doors.

Whether it’s providing a reassuring presence, offering directions, calling patients with appointment reminders or assisting them after a procedure, or raising funds our volunteers play a vital role in enhancing patient care. Our volunteers’ kindness, dedication and generosity relieve stress, anxiety and uncertainty—one interaction at a time.

Meet Mary Cross

"I feel if someone’s looking to make a difference. Someone’s looking to make someone’s day brighter. If someone is looking to get out and do some good. This is the place to volunteer."

Volunteering at KHSC is not just about giving your time—it’s about actively creating the health care experiences we want through collaboration and participation to achieve our Mission, Vision, and Values.
