After-School Volunteer Opportunities

East Harlem Tutorial Program offers a variety of volunteer opportunities through our public charter schools, after-school (out-of-school time programs (OST)), and summer programs. The volunteer opportunities in our OST programs range from subject-matter tutoring, providing students with homework help, mentoring, and preparing high school students for college success. Volunteers support our scholars by preparing them for academic success, encourage their social enrichment, and help them gain the confidence they will need to succeed in college and in life. Check out our OST volunteer opportunities below:

Classroom Buddies - Volunteers work in one of our Kindergarten through 5th Grade after-school classes assisting our scholars with homework, walking them through engaging classroom activities, and supporting our Assistant and Lead Teachers.

Minimum Commitment: Twice a week

When: Monday through Friday, 2:00 p.m. - 4 p.m. or 4 p.m. - 6 p.m.

Road to Success - Middle School years are some of the most formative for any student. This time determines the high school they will get into, which will ultimately be a key factor in whether they go to college. Road to Success provides a small-group setting where scholars receive homework help from volunteers interested in making a difference in the lives of young people.

Minimum Commitment: Twice a week

When: Monday through Thursday, 5 p.m. - 6 p.m.

Circle UP Tutoring - Volunteers help our middle and high school scholars succeed in various subjects (Math, English, Science, History), while in a one-on-one setting. Volunteers should feel confident tutoring and demonstrate success in a 6th - 12th grade level subject.

Minimum Commitment : Once a week

When: Monday or Wednesday, 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.
