Structured Workplace Learning

Structured Workplace Learning (SWL) provides secondary school students with the opportunity to gain practical workplace experience while completing Vocational Education and Training (VET) studies as part of the VCE, VCE Vocational Major or Victorian Pathways Certificate.

Students can apply their classroom learning in a real workplace, develop industry relevant skills and gain a better understanding of their chosen career pathway. Placements are designed to complement a student's studies and provide valuable exposure to workplace expectations, responsibilities and practices.

Structured Workplace Learning placements support skill development, the practical application of industry knowledge and the achievement of course requirements, helping students build confidence and increase their future employment opportunities.

To ensure placements are safe, supported and meet Victorian Education requirements, all Structured Workplace Learning arrangements must be completed in partnership with the student's school and comply with relevant Department of Education guidelines.
