Project: Riparian Planting at Stump Creek

Date:
Saturday, November 2nd, 2024 (9:00 am to 4:00 pm)

Location:
Just west of Mt. St. Helen’s (We will meet at a site ~1 hour from PDX/Vancouver)

Trip leader:
Volunteer and Outreach Coordinator

Trip description:
Logging practices and the Mt. St. Helens eruption have left a lasting impact on the South Fork Toutle River watershed, particularly affecting habitats and biodiversity along waterways like Stump Creek. To enhance and restore ecological balance, we will plant willows and conifers near the instream restoration sites where we built instream structures in 2022 and 2023. Join us in our efforts to restore biodiversity along Stump Creek, ensuring healthier aquatic and riparian ecosystems.

Task:
Harvest willow stakes from nearby locations and plant them in the riparian zone of Stump Creek along with conifer seedlings that are currently being grown out
