Volunteering at York Minster

Welcome!

York Minster relies on the support of over 400 volunteers to enhance the experience and enjoyment of people worshiping at and visiting the cathedral. Our Volunteers give a little time and make a valuable contribution to our welcome, worship, learning and work together.

Why Volunteer?

Volunteering at the Minster gives you the chance to discover more about one of the world’s most magnificent cathedrals and become a part of the thriving Minster Volunteer community. As a volunteer, you will also:

  • Learn more about the Minster, our worship and history;
  • Develop your skills and knowledge;
  • Become part of a community that has supported the Minster for generations;
  • Connect with others and building meaningful new friendships;
  • Receive exclusive discounts to the Minster shop and more;
  • Free entry into the Minster plus a guest;
  • Opportunities to attend unique volunteer events and early access for tickets!

Who can Volunteer?

We welcome applications from all who are interested in giving some of their time on a regular basis. We don’t ask you if you have a personal faith or not, all we ask is that you respect our mission and feel aligned to our values.
