Since 2004, Burnaby’s Eco-Sculptures program has been a unique hallmark of our city, providing living art to our parks which has been delighting residents and visitors of all ages for over 20 years. Eco-Sculptures start with a metal frame, which is then packed with soil. Each spring, our volunteers plant this frame with appropriate plants to grow and fill in during the warmer months- the finished product is a vibrant, imaginative living sculpture. The plants we select for our sculptures are chosen for their colours and textures to create memorable designs which reflect the personality and artistic intention of the artists and volunteers who planted them.
PLANTING EVENT OPPORTUNITY
We are very excited to have the community join us in planting many of our 40+ Eco-Sculptures every year. Our planting sessions are a great opportunity for individuals, families, groups and schools to come together to meet new friends, do something creative, get a little exercise, and reconnect with the experience of getting their hands dirty.
We will be holding planting sessions in April. A notification will be sent out to all volunteers signed up when registration opens in March.

Mission Statement
Our Eco-Sculptures program was created to offer a unique attraction for residents and visitors of Burnaby. These living sculptures draw attention to the challenges faced by the wildlife we share our city with, encouraging us to do our part in protecting their environment and giving a nod to the rich history of our city's cultural past.
