House of Friendship

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with House of Friendship. Volunteers are vital to achieving our vision of a healthy community where everyone can belong and thrive. More than 1000 volunteers make it possible to serve over 42,000 people throughout Waterloo Region each year.

This is your first step to becoming a volunteer with House of Friendship. After you create a username and password, we will ask for some information in order to match you with the most appropriate volunteer position here. We will ask you about your interests, skills, abilities, and availability in order to place you most appropriately. Because there are many options for volunteering at House of Friendship, the more detail you provide, the better we can direct your application.

If at any time during the application process you change your mind about volunteering, you can “Archive” your file and we will no longer have access to your information.

House of Friendship is open and inviting to community members with lived experience.

House of Friendship supports justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion in our workplace. We strive to be a workplace free of harassment and discrimination and we are committed to removing barriers and being an inclusive, work and volunteer environment. House of Friendship is a place where each person can bring their true selves and feel that they belong. We aspire to be an organization that is anti-racist and anti-oppressive so that our team, and therefore our community, can truly belong and thrive.

We invite volunteer applications from all community members and actively encourage volunteer applications from members of groups with historical and/or current barriers to accessing employment and/or volunteer work including, but not limited to Indigenous Peoples, members of racialized groups, persons with disabilities, women, and members of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.

Accessible formats of the volunteer application and communication supports are available upon request. If you require assistance to complete an application to volunteer or during any stage of our screening process, please call our Volunteer Coordinator, Sarah Andrews, at 519-742-8327 x125 or email at sarahm@houseoffriendship.org.

We look forward to partnering with you towards building a healthy community where all can belong and thrive!
