Thank you for your interest in volunteering with House of Friendship.
Volunteers are vital to achieving our vision of a healthy community where everyone can belong and thrive. More than 500 volunteers make it possible to serve over 42,000 people throughout Waterloo Region each year.
This marks the beginning of your journey toward becoming a volunteer with House of Friendship. Once you create a username and password, you will be guided through a series of questions designed to help us understand your interests, skills, abilities and availability. This information allows us to match you with opportunities that align with both your strengths and the needs of the community.
With a wide variety of volunteer roles available, the more detail you provide, the more effectively we can direct your application toward the most appropriate placement.
We welcome all individuals who wish to contribute their time and talents; however, submitting an application does not guarantee a volunteer position. Placement depends on current organizational needs, and we carefully review each application to ensure the best possible fit for both the volunteer and House of Friendship.
If you decide not to continue at any point during the application process, you may choose to 'Archive' your file, which immediately removes your information from our system.
Disclaimer: Artificial Intelligence (AI) is not being used in the screening of applications for volunteers.
Recruitment for our Board of Directors occurs periodically, as Directors serve staggered three‑year terms for up to three consecutive terms. The Board consists of 7–11 Directors and is governed by the Ontario Not‑for‑Profit Corporations Act (ONCA) and the Charities Act. More information about our Board recruitment process is available in our recruitment package.
House of Friendship is open and inviting to community members with lived experience.
We support justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion in our workplace and volunteer environment. We strive to be free of harassment and discrimination and are committed to removing barriers so that everyone can bring their whole selves and feel a sense of belonging. We aspire to be an anti‑racist and anti‑oppressive organization so that our team, and our community, can truly belong and thrive.
