Horticulture - Tasks and Responsibilities
Water, feed, transplant and plant flowers
Weed flower beds
Trim/prune plants as required
Rake dry leaves/dead plants
Maintain tidiness in garden areas
Report any safety concern, maintenance or repairs to the staff supervisor and or volunteer services
Clean bird feeders
Assist with spring and fall clean-up of gardens
Days/Times: Friday afternoon 1:30 - 3:00
The Recreation Associate assists with various activities at the site. They encourage client's participation in activities.
Recreation Associate are the extra pair of "helping hands" that add to the trained services of the Long-term care facility staff, working together to enhance the lives of residents
Activities include, but are not limited to: Reading groups, puzzles, games, bingo, nail painting, going for walks, group painting, crafts, exercise programs, and special events like Christmas parties and teas. Birthday parties, volunteer group outings.
Shifts available Thursday afternoons 3:30 - 4:30 pm
Social interaction with staff/ residents, other volunteers. This will allow residents to get outside , get fresh air and have a short excursion .
Volunteers will help with portering, and pushing resident who is in wheelchair. They will stay with the group while outside and walking around town before portering resident back to room.
Training on Wheel chair etiquette will be provided.

They assist residents in caring for the outdoor space we have during our Spring/summer/ fall season.

Shifts are Thursday morning or afternoon dependent on weather.
This is a seasonal - ongoing program.

This volunteer position will provide connection between volunteers and residents by doing something such as going for a bike ride on a trishaw, going for a ride on a golf cart out on the golf course, or assisting with an outing in the transit bus.
Tri-Shaw (which is a bike that a volunteer operates with seats for two residents to ride up front), rides. Golf cart rides with the volunteer driving the cart and the resident as passenger. Assist with outings into the community.
Golf cart rides around the nearby golf course as a group and would be supervised by staff at all times.
Various Shifts available : Monday to Sunday mornings afternoons and evenings

The Recreation Ambassador will help residents with bingo/playing cards, board games, floor games, going for walks, going for bus trips, dancing, etc.
Shifts available Monday - Sunday mornings afternoons and evenings.

Animals have been found to benefit people socially, psychologically, and physiologically. The goals of pet visitation programs are to provide opportunities for patients to reach and maintain their optimal level of physical and mental functioning; to maintain or re-establish interests, social contacts and dignity, to alleviate anxiety and redirect attention from their own condition and try to provide an outlet for emotion; and to provide structured, meaningful daily activity.
All dogs are to be certified and temperament tested by a Certified Pet Dog Trainer or by St. John’s Ambulance. They will be placed in areas according to their certification level.
Vaccinations are to be up to date prior to first animal visit o Handlers must complete all required SaskHA Registered Volunteer processes
The physical and mental ability to do the work assigned

The willingness to accept training and supervision
A willingness to comply with SaskHA policies and procedures
Volunteers are to provide pet visitation only and not utilize therapy dogs as “tools” for therapy.
Volunteers must follow SaskHA hand hygiene protocols and infection control procedures
Volunteers must maintain patient privacy and confidentiality
Volunteers must follow SaskHA policies and procedures
Times will be arranged between Rec staff and volunteer. No set schedule is needed.
The volunteer role will provide a positive, safe and smooth flowing experience while public attend flu clinics. Volunteers will greet public coming to immunization clinics and direct them to waiting areas and to the next available immunizer
Volunteer should have excellent communication skills and the ability to stand for long periods
