Construction (Rouge Park)

Toronto Wildlife Centre is looking for skilled volunteers with experience in carpentry, electrical, plumbing or painting work to assist with a variety of projects, from cage construction to general repairs around the centre as well as helping us renovate build at our new Rouge Park location. This position may be ideal for volunteers who would like to contribute to TWC's work but may have a busy schedule and are unable to commit to a regular shift.

- 18 years of age or older

- Proficient and experienced in one or more of the following fields: carpentry, electrical, plumbing or painting

- Familiarity and comfort using power tools

- Interest in and respect for the needs of wild animals

- Non-profit volunteer experience an asset

- Access to a reliable vehicle and drivers license an asset as most work will be done at our Rouge Park site which is not easy to access via public transit.

Time Commitment

Volunteers must be able to commit at least 4 hours per week when there are projects on the go, especially from spring-fall. Overall, this role has a great deal of flexibility and shifts are not scheduled on a weekly basis.

Unfortunately, we do not have the capacity to train volunteers in trades, skills, or vocations they do not already possess. All tools will be provided, volunteers must bring their own PPE (work boots, gloves etc.) depending on the specific projects.
